BONDING & EMPOWERING THROUGH FOOD

123456

True Origins is a social project where seniors take the lead, sharing their heritage and culinary knowledge with younger generations. This unique intergenerational programme flips the script, empowering seniors to be hosts, not just beneficiaries. At the same time, students share modern trends, creating a dynamic exchange of knowledge.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

1 ) Students enhance their ability to understand and respect different perspectives through activities like intergenerational bonding with seniors.

2 ) Students connect to their heritage more deeply, promoting a grounded sense of identity and belonging within the broader community.

3 ) Students learn the importance of teamwork, active listening, and clear communication to achieve group goals.

4 ) By fostering genuine connections, students cultivate emotional intelligence, including empathy, self-regulation, and relationship management skills.

WHAT OUR PARTICIPANTS SAY

“It’s a very good opportunity to exchange the basic things in life - food! I really enjoyed that they explained the background of the dishes which was very insightful. It’s also a way to give back to a completely other community that we from a university setting in Switzerland won’t necessarily get to do.”

"Even if you're an introvert, like me, the elderly's warmth will make you feel like you've known them for life. It's easy to talk to them when we can bond over our culture and food."
